Your requests have been answered - a blog post! Sorry about the long wait, work can get in the way of the creative juices. I had a very special day a couple of weekends ago. One of my childhood dreams came true! I meet Peter Tork from The Monkees!

It was a quick decision. I called the fan club number and made reservations for three at Club 66 in Edgewood, Maryland. It's a small town located on the outskirts of Baltimore and a favorite of Peter's.

He walked in to the joint, looking cool and relaxed. Nobody made a fuss, no rushing to catch a gander. Instead he made his way around the small room and introduced himself. When he made his way to me, my heart pattered quicker. I told him the usual fan story, about my Dad giving me their record. He nodded and told me about the upcoming Monkees concert and how Davy Jones just spoke with him that morning. My heart fluttered.

He played a few songs as well as we sat eating the delicious lunch that was provided. Afterwards everybody lined up for pictures and signatures. I beamed as Boyfriend snapped a picture and then Peter said goodbye with a hug.

What a wonderful day!

Four Sides

Everything has a side, some can be counted and others can only be described. And as odd and as confusing as my first sentence of the post may seem, it can be easily explained. Take a square for example - four sides. And this blog - many sides, depending on the angle you're looking at.

For those who have visited for a long time, they see a side of desertion, fewer and fewer posts every day. But, to those who are just stepping into my world, its a side of creativity, fun - or at least that's what my vain self hopes.

Does my blog still serve the same purpose? I asked this question many weeks ago and realized that this side did change. A former means for distraction and hopes for something more has evolved in my mind as an outlet for expression and something that makes me happy.

So instead churning out content and chanting, 'post, post, post!' I'm now going to focus on quality instead of quantity, put real meaning into my posts and direct my attention on expressing myself instead of hoping for ads to appear on the side of this post.

The Night Before

While others are lounging near their television sets today, I will be at work. And as everyone else lets the hours pass, as they fall further and further into their crossed-legged positions, I will be remembering the time before work and before president's day. The night before.

I was focused on the large field lying before me, dead grass swaying. My hat and jacket reminded me of the song that inspired this trip. Boyfriend framed each shot as I stared further out into the open space.

I had imagined this trip months ago after watching the video. I hoped for explosions and tanks rolling up beside me as I darted away, but only whispers of the Civil War remained.

I was told that I looked like Buster from Arrested Development, and I don't disagree, but my real inspiration was the Beatles and their military-inspired set. Staring out your office window will be hard when you know the field sways just an hour away.

However, I have plenty of time this summer to escape away from the city. I anticipate long trips through Virginia and Maryland, as I follow the sun.

Every sister wants a brother. She may already have two wonderful, pretty sisters, but still secretly she wants a pal to play remote control cars and video games with. And who says brothers can't share clothes? Mine can and did this past weekend.

He just had to go and get that hat -tempting me to buy one for my very own. Every time he leaves the house I can feel my jealousy grow as I follow his over-sized yarn pom pom down the road.

He finally turned it over to me and I didn't waste any time. To the park I went to casually flaunt my new crown. And I didn't return home until it was dark and impossible for city dwellers to see my hat. Brother looked a little worried when I came home, but I reassured him that every thread was still in place.

My hair received a trim and curl this evening. My forehead now covered neatly with a fringe curtain. My style did not include the permanent - these ringlets come and go as they please! After every haircut, I think of the Wizard of Oz scene when the merry group gets haircuts and makeovers at Emerald City. The lion, looking very adorable with his red bow, declares, "And I got a permanent for the occasion!"

Jazzy tunes filled the air tonight as Boyfriend and I ate dinner at a small cafe near our house. The sway of bodies narrowed my perspective of the two piece band - saxophone and piano. The performance led me into an internet search for anything Jazz. I came upon these neat vintage illustrations from The First Jazz Book by Langston Hughes.

Langston Hughes was an American poet, playwright and columnist who very much enjoyed the wonders of jazz. He wrote this tribute in 1955. It includes the history and highlights the form. He address many different elements such as work and slave songs, homemade instruments, ragtime and improvisation. And the illustrations are worth peeling back the vintage cover.

Hands But No Arms

What time is it? Now - and I'm due in for work. I hurry and gather my lunch bag, boots and purse. Its so early...8:00 a.m. I yawn and stretch. I tug at the lids of my eyes, making them 'closed for business'. But, then I realize the clock is a ticking and I must scatter forward.

It seems like work week mornings are always the hardest. A lazy Sunday however involves awakening to the smell of breakfast cakes and a visit to the local antique store. Last weekend I stopped by Jean Pierre Antiques. A large clock located on the left wall keeps the time.

I love antiques, almost as much as I love vintage clothes. The tapestry chairs and delicate china lining every crook and corner of the store appealing to my buying senses. As soon as I walked in I was overwhelmed by the soft scent of various candles flickering.

I didn't end up buying anything - towering clocks don't fit very well in my apartment. I have low ceilings. But I did almost buy a candle and a few do-dads. The time continued to tick as I walked around the store, gliding my hands across each treasured piece. "Maybe next time," I thought as the store's wooden door closed behind me.

Toasty Scarf

Hello bloggy friends!! Its been a long time and I apologize. I recently accepted new employment and I also have been working with a local artist designing a new blog site. This year is off to a good start and so is this week. My lovely mom sent me a new scarf in the mail that she crocheted all by herself. The package included a note that said, "Happy Lora Day!"

Many months ago I sat beside my mom on the couch catching up on life. As per usual, the conversation steered towards fashion and I mentioned a scarf that I had recently discovered. Breakfast themed, this scarf included toast slathered with pads of butter all linked perfectly around the neck. She took a look at the picture and proclaimed, "I think I can make that scarf!" And she did - thanks, Mom!

These scarves are very popular at the moment, prices ranging from $60-100.00. My mom made it for me for less than $20.00. You can find scarves just like these on Etsy. They also have other food themed neck warmers including; cupcakes, bacon and eggs, grapefruit and pancakes. A delicious selection, indeed!

My belly rumbles every morning as I take my new ritual commute to work. The cause of course is the tasty scarf around my neck. I stock my lunch bag with delicious snacks to appease my cravings for toast. Later this week I will show off my new stylish, eco-friendly lunch accessories - stay tuned!

Looking Back

Days have gone by and blog posts have been few and far between. I'm sure you can relate to the hustle and bustle of the season. Old hobbies get pushed to the side for shopping errands and cookie baking.

My gift search ended today with a final trip to the local book store. I picked up a great gift for my niece Anna, which I can't disclose, because she frequents the blog often. I don't have children of my own, but being an Aunt can be just as neat - toting large handfuls of gifts towards my mother's door, tags all reading "With Love To Anna".

Kitty has been celebrating the season in his own way...*munch* *munch* on the Christmas tree. I have to be very careful with that silly fur ball - tucking all shiny ornaments far within the branches of the tree.

Egg The Nog

Many can relate to the almost full carton of eggnog that you daydreamed about drinking, but just couldn't stomach it. I bought a carton myself this weekend and decided that this year I wasn't going to pour it down the sink. Instead lets, "Egg The Nog!" Whatever that means.

Egg The Nog Ingredients:

Fresh Ground Coffee

Leftover Eggnog

Cinnamon

Nutmeg

Agave Nectar

First you will need a fresh pot of coffee. Boyfriend and I use the French Press option (you can choose a different one.) Take a pot of water and create some steam on the stove. Let it come to a boil.

Grounds: After the steam bath, pour four heaping spoonfuls of fresh ground coffee into a French press.

Water: Pour the boiling water into the French Press and place lid on top (don't press just yet). Let coffee stand for 4 minutes, then press while holding the lid down securely.

Coffee: Add your fresh pot of pressed coffee to a cute cup, leaving about a third of the room at the top for the leftover eggnog.

Eggnog: Fill the remaining cup with leftover eggnog. Add a dash of agave, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Enjoy!

She Hit A Marble Wall

Picture locations in Washington D.C. are starting to get limited, especially as the temperatures get colder and colder. "Explore more" they suggest, "Be a tourist in your own town," they add - but, they don't realize I have already toured my little city years ago.

Now, the littlest discoveries are huge in my eyes. A year ago, I simply ignored places like this - huffing at the suggestion that outfit pictures could be taken here...there are several different monuments situated neatly throughout downtown D.C. But, now we have hit a marble wall.

Boyfriend and I are hoping for a bit of inspiration to help us climb over our wall. And, until we find our spark, I will continue to blog, because it makes me smile. I enjoy sharing my creative ups and downs and I love reading your comments, thanks.

I dream of flipping through a Lula Magazine as I fall asleep at night, but unfortunately like many I can't get my hands on a copy. Luckily a kind lady uploaded scans of the new issue on TFS. These images are so different from the usual playfulness, but my eyes gladly accept.

This editorial is called White Chalk and was created by Autumn De Wilde. Kristen Dunst is the eerie girl dressed in white. These ghostly image play on the feelings I get when I look at old photographs. You have to admit, sometimes vintage pictures can give you the heebie-jeebies...

Thanksgiving was extra special this year. I was introduced to my new beautiful niece Abby and I also spent wonderful moments with my niece Anna playing make believe and watching silly cat videos on the internet.

It's always nice to see the family and also enjoy delicious food. I actually avoided the turkey this year and instead munched on a Tofurkey. I was weary at first at the idea of faux meat, but it was pleasantly reminiscent of turkey dinner.

After dinner I played on the railroad tracks near my parents' house. Toot! Toot! I prentended to be a choo choo chugging down the tracks. I was thrown off balance when the wind would hurry by.

Leaves Of Gold

I'm enjoying my last weekend before heading back to my hometown for Thanksgiving. Boyfriend and I visited Dumbarton House and slowly toured our way through the gardens enjoying each and every leaf we trampled upon.

Luckily for us the leaves are still around decorating the city streets and towns. My hometown experienced the fallen leaves long ago since they are further north. It will be weird to experience a sudden change in temperature as I adventure home next week. Its been rather warm here in Washington D.C.

Lately hats have been kindly resting upon my head. I've been avoiding the hair salon, because I'm very indecisive at the moment. My hair is the longest its ever been and I know a trip to the stylist will change that. I can't hide forever though under my brown cap.

I wish I could fall asleep in these leaves and not awaken until the morning. They were the oddest shaped things - rounding out around the edges and dropping off at each side. Dreams are made of leaves like those, soft sleepy...Zzzzzz.

I woke up this morning and took a walk through the wet crunchy leaves. I grabbed a handful and tossed the colorful bunch high into the air.

Finally found some time to relax on the couch and flip through my new fashion drawing books. A friend passed them along to me.

A delicious Lime tart was given to me by Boyfriend. He likes to treat me once in awhile with something tasty and sweet. I ate it all up in a few bites!

I enjoy burning incense in the evening. It always puts me in a relaxed mood. I like to enjoy a cup of tea along with my favorite comforting scent, sandalwood.

Kitty enjoys neck scratches followed with a long nap. He is my bestest friend.

Days away... thinking, feeling and calculating her anticipated moment. Deep in her fingers it tingles and worries. Not wanting that moment, she'd rather rest in this one.

Her fingers pulse stronger, she can feel the act she fears the most as she looks up at the sky. The birds fly, reaching up she slips and falls. Her palms hurt, she catches a splinter.

Must she go? Could hide within every crack of the city, lie in the alleyways, grabbing for the blankets that are tucked in the walls?

The windows continue to repeat, the ledges securing her, this time not allowing her to fall. Can I please stay... do I have to walk away?

Walking away, I can't escape whats coming. I carry this moment along with me to replace the moment I'm fearing. Hoping to create courage, a shield.

This small wooded park is my go to place for last minute photos. I don't know how many times I have struggled trying to find different ways to pose in this small stretch of woods. I was too busy this week to plan a real photo shoot, so my neighborhood fence and overgrown fall foliage will do.

Threadless sent me the cutest organic hooded shirt from their new Select Collection. I couldn't keep from wearing it the second it came in the mail. The print on the front is so darling - dancing dandelions smiling in the wind. Perfect top for the Fall season. Thanks Threadless!!!

I've actually bought several cute t shirts in the past from their website - love each and every one of them. Boyfriend and I also bought matching shirts, but we never wear them at the same time. I think owning the same shirt is enough of a romantic gesture for us.

Not As She Imagined

The broken pieces of granite stabbed the ground as I wandered through the forgotten graveyard. Crumbling memories of family members who lived many years ago, stones left to weather.

A holiday tradition for some, I figured as I glanced from behind my mask, staring at the several people also walking along the unmarked path. They stare over at my odd costume, not in fear but with smiles, because today is Halloween.

These pictures came out creepier than I had imagined. I originally foresaw photos like this, but somehow they came out more eerie - I actually frightened myself when looking in the mirror. I think my vintage mask is to blame. His eyebrows are awfully slanted and that facial expression doesn't help.

As scary as these photos look, it was actually very serene there. Pretty random buds sprouting around the broken graves and tiny acorns waiting to be nibbled by the neighborhood squirrel. I think my fuzzy friends were afraid to come around though, a gigantic rabbit can be kind of frightening.

I'm going to miss Halloween, not so much for the candy or costumes, but rather the happy faces I saw on the busy city streets this weekend. I think this scary holiday is the least stressful of them all. No real reason to hurry or worry - just dress up time in your creative best.

Halloween is only a few days away and when planning a party a quick trip to the local store is all one needs to ensure a fun event. But, in the early 1900's hostesses turned to the Bogie (Mischievous Halloween Spirits) Book for supplies and inspiration. Dennison Manufacturing Company in Framingham, Massachusetts created these fun catalogs illustrating neat ways to please your guests. The books offered an assortment of party games, menus, greeting cards and decorations that were all made from paper products that were sold by Dennison.

If you do a quick search on Flickr and Google for vintage Halloween party photos, you will find that people were happy to adopt Bogie's advice - their costume and party decor all matching perfectly with the ideal Dennison sold.

I don't think I've run across many people my age who aren't afraid of losing their hair, finding gray strands and zig zaggy lines on their faces. And the worst part - finding out that age defines them as uncool. I read Facebook statuses all of the time that cry out in fear with proud statements like, "Today's music is horrible, the 90's was the last of great music." Ha! My parents have said the same about their generation.

Anyway, the fear of aging is widespread and affects me and almost everyone else. It's people like Zelda Kaplan who remind us that the aging gene isn't so scary. Instead this lovely lady flourishes in her 90's. She stays out till 4 am, partying at the most exclusive hot spots in N.Y.

She's not just a socialite. Zelda has spent time in Africa living in mud huts and educating women on the damaging effects of clitoral surgery. She's a humanitarian, ballroom dancer, and a golf pro. She designs her own clothes using fabrics she has found on her discoveries. What a wonderful reminder of how precious life can be and what can be accomplished in the act of living.

Under The Bridge

The past couple of weeks have been traveled in the most comfiest of shoes and clothing. I usually like to ride the day out in lace and large bows fixed to the collar of my wears, but my feets need a break and I opted for a sleek pair of flats today.

I'm glad I opted for casual clothes, because my travels were a little rough - climbing down slippery rocks to get to the water below. Boyfriend and I were the only ones under the bridge, making it extra romantic. We did our usual scouting around the premises and taking pictures. A raft of ducks floated by, so we weren't entirely alone.

I'm very excited for next weekend's events. I know I've already mentioned it, but Halloween and the Rally to Restore Sanity are really causing me sleepless nights. I have my costume all sorted out, but my sign still needs dreamed up. I've read that all plane flights are already booked for the rally!!

Hey there, bloggy friends - I'm swinging down the street so fancy free! Wearing my vintage 80's fish print sweatshirt I find at the turn of a corner the head of George Washington, plastered proudly on the side of a very important building.

He is also riding a powerful steed a couple of blocks away in the circle named after him. I'm not surprised to run into George as I walk the streets of D.C. I am, however, quite taken by him today and his symbolic presence.

This has been a favorite song of mine for years. I always forget about the Seekers, another one of those bands that gets lost in the shuffle along with their catchy tunes. I only remembered them today as I was imagining a name for this post.

This month has proven to be a fruitful one - so many amazing events happening and have. Halloween is always a given, but there was also my birthday and the Rally To Restore Sanity that will be occurring on October 30th. I have yet to come up with a clever sign.

Crena Watson's photos and video offer a glimpse into the early morning ritual of a curly redhead girl. Waking up to the gentle tune offered by her alarm clock and dancing about her room, this sleepy eyed lady makes me yearn for a similar bedroom and a powder pink nightie.

Although, I'm not as gung-ho about adopting the habit of popping pills every morning in order to do that special dance. But, you have to admit she is the cutest druggie to dance in our imaginations. And those sunglasses are pretty keen too.

The only thing waking me up in the mornings, is my fluffy black haired kitty. I don't mind, but when he disregards my need for a couple more hours of pillow time, he can be quite annoying. He sweeps his wet nose across me checks and follows with a piercing *meow* in my left ear (sometimes right, depending on the morning).

Savannah Vintage Shopping

Part of my birthday in Savannah, GA was spent digging through piles of the most amazing vintage clothes. I tried on so many and I had to explain to Boyfriend that it was the only way to ensure that I would leave the store with something. I bet you can relate to the struggle of finding that one special dress or skirt that actually fits amongst so many wonderful treasures.

My first stop was Civvies - a bounty of neat wears stored on the top floor of a darling historical building. They had a lot of neat selections for both guys and girls. Boyfriend spent some time shuffling through the unique neck ties and I got lost in a hoard of cute vintage dresses.

The Clothing Warehouse had a few pieces that made their way back to D.C. I've been wanting this ModCloth purse for awhile, but luckily I found a vintage 80's purse that fulfilled that need and it was only $20.00! I also snagged a cute over-sized 80's sweatshirt that I will be wearing later this week.

The last store I wandered into was my very favorite. Boyfriend and I just happened to be walking home when we stumbled upon ARC. It had a completely different feel from the rest and was stocked full of romantic vintage pieces. I bought a ruffled, striped blouse, wool skirt and gray wool shorts. It was a perfect birthday day.

It was hard pulling up my tights in 80 degree weather, but my autumn look wasn't complete until my stems were truly brown. I feel I succesfully took a summer 60's dress and made it appropriate for Fall.

While in Savannah, GA I visited the local Botanical Gardens - that's right I have returned home, but I'm not quite finished with sharing my trip. When we opened the car doors, two scruffy adorable kitties headed toward our car and welcomed us to the gardens.

I was hoping they would give us a free tour, but instead they were more intrested in finding supper. Luckily some local gentlemen dropped by while we were leaving. They had several cans of cat food and wide smiles.

As I woke up this morning my usual stretches where accompanied by the tender bites of an orange feline. His name is Ivan and he lives with Boyfriend's brother. He likes to gnaw and massage my hair.

After a tasty breakfast Boyfriend's family and I headed out on an adventure. We explored the little city of Savannah. It was fun to spend time with them and discover the beautiful sights.

My eyes gravitated quickly toward the large barge toting special goodies. We explored many neat stores on the riverfront and there was a cute streetcar that toted tourists from one end to the other.

When our tummies started to rumble, we made an unexpected stop at the Pirate House. I was so curious as to why so many people were dressed up as pirates in this town. I learned at the restaurant that it was officially Pirate Week!

The buildings alone are worth staring at for hours. The intricate worn lines trailing from the very bottom of the structure to the tippy top.

Can you really pass up a candy store while vacationing? The treats were overflowing and the cavities were growing as I sampled each and every delicious snack.

On our way home we spotted streams of water shooting high into the sky. A group of boys where enjoying the rush of cold sprouted water piercing their feet.

Our final sightseeing wonder was a distorted fence that wedged itself into my imagination - its oddly cut beams pulling me closer and closer. I regret not making this site an outfit picture location.

Savannah

Sometimes stuff comes up and the blog is put on hold, but then you force open the door again. I am currently visiting the historic Savannah, GA and the door that I opened has a bit of charm and an aroma of aged wood coated with the warmth of the hot southern sun.

Everywhere you step is pleasantly dated. I couldn't take my eyes off of this brass horse sitting appropriately along the cobbled street. The townspeople are extremely friendly too, something I'm not use to in D.C.

I'm visiting Boyfriend's brother and girlfriend - his parents also came along. After sightseeing we enjoyed a delicious dinner out to celebrate the many October Birthdays in the family. Mine is actually today and I throughly enjoyed every moment of it thanks to Boyfriend's sweet family.

I definitely wore a vintage inspired outfit today, however I forgot when packing that Savannah is very warm so my skirt was awfully toasty. I added the bow to the collar myself - just a quick pinch of the fabric and a safety pin is all it took.

Some days are better than others. With a tug of the sheets in the wrong direction, I fell out of the wrong side of bed. I stumbled across the carpet and kicked my toe against my cat's dinner bowl, or to be more accurate, his breakfast bowl.

I managed to find something cute to wear, actually I think I discovered a very cute combination. My striped top blends so well with the little boy bicycling on my skirt while balancing his trusty ladder. I pondered the idea of bringing my own ladder to Georgetown University today - balancing ever so carefully, climbing towards the clock tower.

I found my adorable schoolgirl skirt at my local vintage store. I had to mend the zipper, it unfortunately was stuck along with my waist when I tried pulling it off. Luckily I managed to wiggle myself free and fix the stubborn zipper.

The sun was also awfully finicky today. It kept coming and going without saying goodbye. I managed to catch it in action with the silhouette picture above. Hee, hee silly sunshine, I guess you couldn't find a good hiding space after all. Summer still has some leftovers to be enjoyed.

Rainy days may prevent me from taking pictures, but other bloggers might have more luck. I decided to feature another lovely style since I'm being prevented from sharing mine. Second Skin, a bohemian goddess caught my eye a couple of weeks ago. I immediately thought of Free People when I spotted her adorable outfit creations, except more creative and genuine.

"Generally I would like to live in the nude, but for practicality and fun, I dress. May as well make the most of my second skin," proclaims this adorable blogger and I couldn't agree more. She posts gorgeous pictures almost daily, something I'm terrible jealous of. And of course her outfits are always unique and hippie dreamy. She also sells gorgeous vintage pieces at her Etsy shop, Second Skin Vintage.

No more modern than the next woman walking down the street, cell phone in hand but perhaps a little less so with my 60's mod dress tucked stylishly under my new fancy blazer. Many people are weary of the 60's funky designs, but they can be easily subdued if paired with the right accessory.

After finding tons of funky 60's dresses, I just knew I had to introduce them to my wardrobe slowly. I just couldn't start wearing them with matching tights and groovy shades - or could I? Instead I found a way to make this particular dress more career and 'today' friendly. I think the long necklace and of course the cute funky flats really give it a fresh, new look. What do you think?

I like to smile in my pictures - I can't help it, my days are usually pretty happy. Why do so many models look so intense and depressed in their pictures?Sometimes I have to remind myself that this is odd, because I see it so much and it begins to look normal. I can understand the creativity of a different pose or facial expression, but not when it's the only way to snap a photo.

That's why I love the 60's - the freedom of dress, the break away from the Paris fashion elites and the more-often-than-not smiling models. I just had to beam from ear to ear especially when running around this park. I love the crazy angles to be found at this concrete playground. I'm sure a visit will happen again soon, there are so many places to take pictures.

Let The School Bell Ring!

I'm sure that when this school was built, the most obvious, sturdy design was chosen. And it probably wasn't considered as amazingly quaint as we see it today. Its aged bricks offer a bit of charm to our modern world, something truly appreciated by my curious eyes.

Hume School is one of the oldest school buildings in Arlington, VA. There is a working classroom inside offering a glimpse into the life of a schoolchild during the late 1800s. I haven't made it inside just yet, I need to remember to set my alarm clock so I can make it in time before the doors close. I dream of ringing the school bell!

My sky high socks were purchased over the weekend at the Ginger Roots party. They are high quality organic leg warmers with an added bit of fun - four colorful buttons all lined up perfectly at the very peak of each sock. I knew these socks would be a perfect addition to my Fall wardrobe so I grabbed a pair.

Today I spent most of the day waiting for a package for my brother. He was so excited when he came home - grabbing for his new game and running into his room. I doubt I hear a peep from him all night. My cat Salem is keeping me company, hoping for a tuna snack.

Lawschool dropout Emily Christensen followed her dream and after five years of bicycle messaging, gardening and falling in love she started her very own clothing website. Her designs are missing buttons and zippers and for a very good reason. She wants a pull-on-fit that flatters every woman. Ginger Roots Launch Party

On Saturday I attended an exciting vintage store opening. While sipping ginger lemonade I gazed at the many gorgeous item on sale at Ginger Roots. I met the lovely owner-ladies, Kristen Swenson and Erin Derge, last spring at the Seersucker Social.

My indecisive personality struggled to make a decision that evening, there were so many neat things to buy. I finally decided on a pair of cute blue knee high socks. They have an array of women's and men's clothing and accessories, all created from original vintage pieces - all eco-friendly. Its was so much fun to look at the before and after pictures they had decorating the walls.

This dress was my very favorite - a lining of pretty purple ribbon sewn to the bottom of the dress played with my imagination that evening. Once outdated, this dress now has a fresh unique design ready for the fall season. They also added cute heart shaped buttons to the back of the dress. I almost left home with it, but decided I was in need of socks more.

This darling boutique also makes room for other fine treasures. They offer art work and pretty handmade jewelry from local talented ladies. It really is an amazing experience to shop here. I had such a fun evening and I will definitely be returning soon to pick some other coveted pieces.

The Ruche Dress

It took us a bit to find this unusual creation - Google Map steered us the wrong way. After hoofing across the obviously wrong park, we jumped back into the car and followed a nearby bike path instead. We were in search of the great Bike Kiosk and we were determined enough not to head back. Luckily we did find it and its many signs.

Many people have complained about the transfer of this unique structure - located once before in Rosslyn, Va, it is now resting in a quiet little park in Barcroft VA. I understand their longing to keep it nearby, it's pretty neat.

The lovely online vintage-inspired clothing store Ruche was kind enough to send me this cute dress - thanks! Don't you just love the pretty lacy detail near the collar. I pinned a brown bow to the center to add to its Victorian appeal.

I also dressed it up with my cute lacy knee highs, that I unfortunately had to replace because I lost them months ago on the way home from the beach. Luckily my local accesory store still had them in stock.

I want to visit the kiosk again very soon, but it's so far away. Why, oh why did they take it? Could they have spared maybe one sign or a weird metal face? I'm guessing the artist was from the great Yellowhammer since he left his mark by lodging several Alabama license plates into the creation.

Meet Fashion Doll Sindy!

Miss Sindy, the doll you love to dress! I think she is very keen and I'm not a huge doll enthusiast - no long line of collected bendable plastic molds decorating the walls of my apartment. My fondness for this doll however grew from learning about her unique past.

She is a British fashion doll that was created by Pedigree Dolls and Toys in 1963 - rival to Barbie. She was crafted after Ideal Toy Company's doll, Tammy. She is best remember for her fab 60's fashions and girl next door appeal. She was later introduced to the U.S. market in the early 70's with Brady Bunch's Susan Olsen as the spokeslady. Unfortunately, the doll did not catch on with the American audience and she was discontinued. Sindy still exists in England with a new look and a new modern wardrobe.

Why my excitement over Sindy? I don't know, like I said just something I fell upon today while searching Google. Boyfriend likes to scurry the internet for memes and new goofy videos, while I prefer searching for vintage clothes and learning about anything retro.

I read recently that modern girls of today are not bold enough to wear the color pallet of the 60's. Well I disagree - I'm bold, even daring, and I don't care what people think. I enjoy exploring everything and this dress really makes me feel unique and creative. I have to be honest, I probably will tone it down next time, but today I was looking for a typical 60's look.

Far, far away in Crystal City V.A. is the neatest water park. There aren't any tumbling waves or water slides - no, you can walk about the fountain freely, getting your feet wet and allowing the drops of water to fall around you.

My heels unfortunately caught constantly within the grooves of the concrete. At one point I lost my baby blue completely and had to head back to pry it out of the tiny hole. Cities ought to be more fancy lady friendly.

I probably won't be wearing this dress again until next summer. It's very cute, but I think it's colorful floral motif is better suited for the sunshine. Well, unless I decide to dress up as a 60's girl for Halloween!

Growing up to some means putting away red bouncy balls and wearing clothes that lie below the knee. And to most it doesn't make much sense to go outside and make fun, but instead stay indoors, read the paper and make house.

I prefer going about the day with a young heart, making discoveries - just being me, bouncing along with my ball. And if others find that odd as they sit off on the sidelines, I doubt they say anything. Have you ever tried running while bouncing... recently? It always makes me giggle especially when my feet get displaced. Dum da, da I hum with a bounce in my step, the ball pounding below.

Fun striped rompers are well suited for a play-date. With whom you ask? Well, the red rubber ball of course, silly. Red heels may seem goofy when playing in the park, and of course they are, but don't they match so perfectly! I just remind myself to step carefully, jump easily and skip gently.

The rest of my Labor Day will be spent writing with Boyfriend, but don't fret, it will probably be at a park of some sort. Laptop plugged in, words bouncing about our heads, creating stories.

My parents didn't allow me to watch it, but I snuck a few episodes in here and there. The clothing is very interesting in the picture above. I don't remember a lot of the guys wearing styles like this on my part of the street. The girls clothes, however, are fairly familiar. Boat Tours - Cancelled!

It has yet to chase me away, the bright burning sun, and I refuse to take a nap all day, so instead I opt for an adventure. As I crossed the long bridge that separates Virginia and D.C. my heels clicked and dragged against the warm concrete. The walk was tiring but I finally made it all the way across and arrived at the long C & O Canal in Georgetown, D.C.

It wasn't there a moment ago, the little boat with bright blue stripes and windows trimmed in white.The sun must have blocked my view because it hasn't budged all day - it happens to be out of service. There will be no passengers filling it to the brim, tipping to the left and to the right as it floats downstream.

I crawled along a small strip of concrete and managed to get very close to my favorite boat. Well, it's only my favorite at the moment. You know how cute boats can be. All of a sudden a little Tug could be chugging along and wooop! there goes my heart.

The entire area surrounding the boat is picturesque and I doubt that the residents living nearby ever get a moment of peace with all the cameras flashing towards the sky. The houses that run along the canal are gorgeous and people are always taking pictures.

Of course a favorite treat of mine lies very close to this canal, but I was successful today and avoided the cupcake shop. I actually was pretty content just walking around and peering down at the stagnant water.

The outfit I chose fit in perfectly with the scenery - very nautical and vintage chic. I felt like wearing blue and red and surprisingly I found many cute accessories to go along with my outfit. I always forget about my anchor necklace and blue vintage purse.

I visit ModCloth almost daily - a nice habit I adopted a year ago. I'm sure glad I stopped by today to catch their neat collection of 80's purses! The bags are decorated with funky colors and perfectly patterned shapes - don't know which grabs my attention more. The purses are being sold between 8/30 and 9/5 so make sure to keep a close eye on your favorite bags. Usually ModCloth's vintage goes super fast, so I'm glad they are launching them slowly. Enjoy!

She only wanted to skip around the grassy parking lot, her wild curls tossed into the sun, pretending to to be just like her friends in the mural.

But small steel pieces were bent into place, crisscrossing one another in order to shield the friendly mural and its playing field. She sat on the brick sidewalk and dreamed of climbing the fence and then being caught and dragged away.

The colors are what appealed to her most and the oddly shaped bodies that bore strange expressions of discovery and glee, watering each and every one of the smiling flowers that danced in the weeds.

Perhaps when she visits next time, the gate will be open, but frowning she will find cars filed one next to the other. She will squeeze past and hurry over to her painted friends, and lean her check upon the flowers.

These shoes are ready for leaf stomping! Duo's fun collection of ankle boots, heels and spectator shoes is making me very excited for the fall season. I'm in need of some cute ankle boots and given my tiny calves, Duo's fitted shoes will work perfectly. I bought a really nice pair of black thigh high boots a couple of years ago and they show very little wear. And of course they fit perfectly around my calves, allowing me to walk comfortably on the cold bitter ground.

Urban Outfitters released a 90's inspired collection for fall, Lovely Levi Lady - at least that's what I like to call it. They also included a history on the first Levi's jeans for women. Its a very interesting article, which includes pictures and neat facts. I'm not particularly excited about the 90's resurgence, but its always nice to have options when shopping. What trends have you noticed for Fall? Any particular ones that your digging?

This Is Beauty? And... MAD MEN AUCTION!

Hmmm... I've been seeing a pattern lately - I'm Mad Men crazy!! Anyway, on a more serious note, I read about the Barbie doll debate on About.com Vintage Blog and decided it would be a great discussion for the blog. Barbie has been getting complaints for years about the size of her waist, arms, breasts - should I go on? Now Barbie is getting more attention as she dresses up in Mad Men Clothes and calls herself Joan and Betty. As you can see above neither of the dolls look particularly like either of the real ladies, but what is shocking is the complete lack of curves on the Joan doll.

I guess we shouldn't expect much from a company that made this unrealistic body shape popular during, you guessed it - Mad Men time. The doll launched in March 1959 and regardless of the fact that 'Twiggy' had yet to be discovered, they still designed their doll after a very thin physique.

What do you think? Is the Barbie debate warranted?

The Birchmere

I've only been to The Birchmere Music Hall once, a couple of years ago actually. I saw The Zombies, a band from the 1960's. Its a wonderful place that has a reputation for launching bands into stardom. After grocery shopping yesterday at Mom's Organic Market I decided to take some pictures there.

The parking lot was completely empty...well, there was a cute black kitty rolling around in the dust. I ran up and down the parking lot tossing my vintage purse into the air. Its not very often I get this much open space to play. Now, if only it had a carpet made of grass.

I love murals!!! I'm always searching for new creations. Actually I remember a video that recently surfaced showcasing a new mural in D.C. It really inspired me to seek out more of these wonderful creations in the city.

This fun hippie style vest was a very early vintage purchase of mine. I'm not sure what initally drew me to it, probably the fun design and color. The vest reminds my Dad of the clothes my Nana wore. It can be buttoned up and layered with several different shirts. I pair turtlenecks with it during the cold months.

I'm pretty sure I didn't notice a men's collection last season, so I'm pretty excited about the new addition. The sweater above has a really neat 50's vibe. Off the main highway, on the outskirts of the town of Manassas is a stretch of historical land, where lies a National Battlefield. Boyfriend and I weren't planning on stopping there, but once we saw the house and the cute bridge we quickly pulled over for some pictures.

This area experienced two Civil War battles, both of them Confederate victories. The first battle was fought on July 21, 1861 and was followed by a second battle on August 28-30, 1862. The land feels very sacred, being that it hasn't been touched by modern design. There are several historical buildings and structures that remain.

I moved to D.C. almost four years ago and I still haven't adventured out to see all of the Civil War sites. I plan on taking a weekend trip this fall and touring each and every historic site. I actually find them more exciting then the monuments in D.C., probably because I see them every day.

I love houses like these, their structures bearing an emotion of simpler times, although the events that surrounded the homes in the 1800's where anything but simple. The two little chimneys are adorable. I would have loved to tour the inside, maybe next time.

I just realized that this post has more pictures then usually - I don't tend to write this much. I couldn't help it though, the area was so picture friendly. My outfit fit in pretty well too - the polka dots happily dancing off the brick walls. And of course my favorite purchase this summer, my spectator shoes matched well.

Around the entire area a rugged wooden fence protects the grounds. Its actually quite intimidating. I'm sure I could climb over it, but at first sight its a little scary. Pointy wooden ends shooting up into the sky, splinters grasping at your legs.

What Joan Might Wear

I was staring at the Whirlingturban Custom Salon Collection last night while snuggling up to Boyfriend on the couch. He leaned over and took a look at my laptop, as he usually does. "That looks like something Joan from Mad Men would wear," said Boyfriend. Oh, what more could a girl ask for! He surprises me with comments like this all of the time. What a well-rounded guy.

Peggy Would Dress: According to the website this dress was inspired by 50's designer Peggy Wood. To provided a more comfortable fit, they 'Turbanated' the design.

Brocade Dress: The most appealing aspect of this dress, is the various fabric options. The stock changes day to day along with the color and detail.

Shaheen Dress: This dress comes with a removable sash, but that's not the only exciting part, it also is one of the most flattering designs from the 50's. It is a tribute to Albert Shaheen.

Chinese Bombshell: This dress originally was available to only the A cup gal. Whirlingturban has made several variations for the A, C, and D!

Hawaiian Heaven: This dress is super cute and is also available in many different fabric designs. I love the cute wing detail at the very top, reminds me of my vintage swimsuit!

Baked And Wired

To eat cupcakes you must be decked out in the frilliest of outfits. Polka dots seemed appropriate for the trip, so I wore my Anthropologie dress. I figured since they had a bicycle parked out front of the store, vintage gloves would also work well. My Ruche necklace was the final piece to add before heading out. My destination: Baked and Wired.

I can't help myself when I visit this coffee shop. I'm always jumping on the pretty pink bicycle that is secured comfortably to the ground. The basket is perfect for toting around cupcakes. Yummy iced confections joining me on my day trip across the city. A couple of bites here and there to keep up my energy.

Or, you can always just pose with it - pretending to be a professional cupcake model. I have to admit, I eat so many of these things, that I should be granted a certificate of some sort. I have tried almost every cupcake store in town, this one being my very favorite.

My dainty gloves are the sole pair habitating my closet at the moment. I've been meaning to find more, along with some scarves. Whenever I put on a pair of gloves, I feel a little fancier. But isn't that the case with most people?

Rainy Days And Thursdays

When I heard of thunderstorms and light outages frightening my hometown, I knew it wasn't long until that same stormy cloud drifted over Washington D.C. Today my cell phone beeped every couple of minutes warning me about severe rain and lightening. I decided to stay in for the day.

Despite the stormy weather, I did pay my rent. When the rain finally retreated for a few minutes, I threw on my rain boots and ran up the street to the post office. I made it home right in time to catch my lights flickering and kitty hiding in the corner.

When I wasn't documenting the rainstorm, I was working hard on future projects. I also managed to get some real work done. I stole some of my Brother's chai latte and a couple of raisin cookies. I love sipping out of my vintage teacups - allowing myself an escape from the blustery noise outside.

Time seemed to drag on longer today. Probably because I had to stay indoors. Do you ever have those moments when you can hear each and every tick-tock of the clock? I decided I needed a little change of pace. So...

I rummaged through my piles of vinyl and found one of my favorite records. Dust and finger prints were smeared all across my poor 'Let It Be'. I followed the advice of my Dad and carefully cleaned off the dirt with a smooth swipe.

The rain has let up and tomorrow is supposed to be a dryer day. I hope to get out and take some pictures of my recent outfit creations to share with you. I'm glad the sun will be out, maybe a walk to my favorite park or a coffee shop trip will also be in order.

Vintage Family Photographs

Many months ago my Dad handed me a box of vintage photographs. I was so excited! I poured around 30-40 family photos onto his carpeted floor and sifted through each and every one. Everybody loves looking at old photos and sharing them with others is even more fun.

Above is my most favorite picture of all. My Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather are enjoying a keg of some bubbly in the warm summer sun. The picture is perfection with every detail popping - the old car, house dresses and an accordion! What a day they had! Below are a few more pictures to enjoy.

My dad was in love with music, even at a young age. I love his picture with the guitar. I wish the color would have scanned better, I might try fixing it later. The furniture in that picture is so retro! Funny how that style has reemerged again. I've been on a search lately for a chair with pointy legs just like the one in his childhood living room.

My favorite picture in this collage is the one of Grandmother and her sister with the bike - reminds me of the Wizard of Oz! The dolls in the middle photo are so darling. They look like they would be fun to hug. And of course the photo of the little girl with the phone is beyond sweet, I wish I knew who she was.

I'll probably post more photos in the coming months. I'm so excited to see the what other pictures my parents can dig up. Its fun to take a look back at the memories that have been saved over the years. Have you discovered any vintage family photos of your own?

Wow, the days when cleaning the house was so glamorous. Wearing heels, sweeping floors - it had to be the life, right? Haha, well I'm sure it wasn't as fun as the picture above, but the clothes sure were. Today I was looking through old vintage pictures dreaming of vintage clothes. Below are few of my favorite housewife favorites.

Sweater: Cardigans may not be considered useful in the summer, but for some these warm button-uppers are useful year round. See, Boyfriend loves to blast the air-conditioning, so I'm always cold. I found this one on Etsy - Plastictags has a great collection of vintage pieces.

Beaded Purse: Its not often you see these purses being toted around, but it never left the side of the vintage lady. I think the details are exquisite and the beads are so unique. I wonder when this style will reemerge. Etsy provided me again with this find. Jenniesjunque's store is amazing!

Pot Holder: I adore this potholder, the print is so retro! I've thought about collecting some for decor in my kitchen. I found it at this cute little Etsy store called Jamielanie.

Apron: Tie at the waist, you can't get any better than that. I remember when I was little, making fun of my mom for wearing her frilly aprons around the kitchen. Now, I love these delicate kitchen helpers, especially this one from Jamielanie!

60's House Dress: I only own one house dress and it's not vintage - what a shame! I would love to have a couple to wear around. I find the simple silhouette so cute. This one has the cutest flower child print. Fuzzylizzie is selling it for only $16.00!

Claudette Hat: Hats of course are a housewife's favorite accessory and mine. The one I choose is from ModCloth. No, it's not vintage, but it's a great example of a classic ladies hat. I think its an adorable accessory that works well even with the modern girl style.

I'm Just Setting On The Shelf

I didn't have it in me to go outside today - instead a leisurely stretch across my bed's bookshelf was what I wanted to do. Boyfriend and I proclaimed this weekend to be 'creative weekend'. A little sorting out the idea closet is in order. We managed to work on a few things today.

I'm the type of person to get really, really motivated all at once - its puzzlingly refreshing to Boyfriend considering that I nag him to join in on my creative rush. I get all fired up and uneasy about sitting around. Instead I want to act on my creative desires and create. In fact we have a another session planned for tomorrow.

Tick, tock - I love this clock! I've posted pictures of it before. Sometimes Boyfriends have hidden treasures, one being a childhood friend. Mr. Kitty woke him up everyday with a loud blaring horn (which sadly broke away from his hands years before) that he annoyingly loved. He claims kitties horn broke off one morning after accidentally knocking him on the floor. I worry that it may have been on purpose -you now how grumpy boyfriends can get when awoken early.

My cat Salem was very lonely today. He demanded many pets. He loves to roll around and get a scratching near his neck. Loud whiny meows commence when he is in need of attention. We have a tradition of scratching our nails together on stuff in the apartment. Seriously - I will scratch my nails across the edge of an object and in seconds Salem will follow suit. Boyfriend finds it weird, but my friends have disagreed - they think we're cute! I think Boyfriend is jealous.

This is one of my favorite summer dresses. The scene on the dress is absurdly interesting - there are colorful trees sprouting from every seam! Near the right shoulder is a pretty cluster of blue stitched flowers. Thin red ruffles trail the dress leading to a colorful printed adventure. Some would find it gaudy - I love its busy design!

I don't usually do similar posts back to back, but I came upon two new collections in the same week - both equally exciting! Karmaloop, the hipster kingdom of all things stylish, added a new section to their online boutique - Rare.

The collection offers unique vintage eyewear from the 60's to the 80's. What makes this store stand out are the several pairs of glasses that are lining the pages of Rare. The prices are pretty high so they may be more drool worthy.

I get really excited when my favorite online stores expand their customer demographic and offer fashion for all of the lovely ladies in the world. Ruche has recently added some pretty frocks for the beautiful curvy lady . I'm in love with the adorable frilly dresses and tops. My favorite is the Waiting For Autumn Tank Top (bottom row). It truly is the perfect racerback to wear while waiting for the chilly wind and crackly leaves of fall. Take a look at their new collection, I doubt it disappoints.

Apart Far Too Long

While driving around Old Town Alexandria, Boyfriend, Brother and I came upon this neat little treat. This ice factory has been closed for years and years, but it's still a sight to see. Its vintage construction bears most of the charm along with the mysterious boarded up windows and doors.

We've never noticed it before, but that's probably because we'd never driven down that road until now. That's the neat thing about the living in the city. There are always new discoveries to be found. I hope they have great plans for this place, I would hate to see it torn down.

This past weekend has been very warm. I can't believe I wore a pair of tights outside in that heat. I regretted that decision later. I thought they paired perfectly with my vintage blouse. Oh, goodness, I almost forgot, this blouse is the mate of my vintage skirt that I wore days ago. I can't wait to reunite them in style matrimony. They have been separated for longer then expected.

I've mentioned before my New Years Goal and the changes I've made to meet this difficult challenge. But I don't mind talking about it again since I found a pretty nifty video made by The Story of Stuff to help me along with my new changes. Many of my readers and bloggy friends are already aware of the huge problem the cosmetic industry poses and are making changes themselves.The other day I purchased new shampoo, conditioner and face wash minus the toxic chemicals that are harmful to me and you.

Every day I receive emails offering me free makeup and products to review and give away on my blog, but I turn them away. I wouldn't dare to try and convince you to use something that I wouldn't want, even if that means turning down free stuff. If you don't know the risks caused by cosmetics or if you would like to be re-motivated to make new changes, take a look at the video. At The Drop Of A Hat

Hat collecting's only a new activity of mine, but my head-wardrobe is growing larger every day with new discoveries. What I love most about hats are those outrageous types that can be found. The kind that are enormous in size and uncomfortable upon wearing.

I've never found a hat like any of these, but wouldn't that be the day. Could you imagine coming upon any of these hats in a thrift or vintage store. My heart would just leap and my wallet would spring open. I would have a hard time letting it just hang from the wall of my bedroom. I'm the type to wear any type of outrageous head covering despite the looks from the normal peoples. Ok, so maybe I wouldn't wear them all of the time, but I would sure find an occasion that would allow for just extravagance.

Waisted Style

This outfit occurred over a few minutes - struggling to get something together for what else? Pictures. Should I complain? Well, to be honest, I'm not. I rather enjoy posing for Boyfriend, which I have proclaimed in the past. And what makes this week's photo happenings even more precious is that we will be celebrating four years together this coming Thursday.

I did happen to wear this outfit the entire day. I felt like Betty Draper toting around my white framed sunglasses and gray cardigan. I found my vintage Capris last winter at the local vintage store for only $8.00. I buried them away and waited patiently till the sun came back out.

The picnic table and scenery were darling during early morning, but the insects that occupied the area were rather uncharming. They rudely left me with itchy patches up and down my legs. A little bit of baking soda mixed with water did the trick and I'm feeling much better.

My naturally curly ringlets are my best friends this summer. I have not once experienced the desire to straighten my do. The heat works along with it in strange ways. I don't put to much thought into it. I just sit back and enjoy what mama gave me.

Summer gets a real hold on me, wanting and wishing for more and more. I love sundresses and pretty floral frocks. The only things I've been purchasing lately are computer keyboards and accessories and I would love to buy the Nadinoo Silk Petal Blouse instead. Its 100% silk and has a pretty light pale color. I'm always keeping an eye out for the new items at Ruche. I've been thinking about their Buttercup Flower Cap.

This time of the season means discounted prices, trying to make room for the fall. Orla Kiely's Woodcut Flower Vest Dress is now only $75.00. Cabbages and Roses also put my favorite skirt on sale. There are many other things I would like to buy, there are just a few. If you know of any other great sales going on, let me know!

dace Fall Collection and Giveaway!!

The new dace fall collection is out and I'm in love with every piece. How come the thought of fall isn't putting a sour taste in my mouth? Usually I would hate to even think about fallen leaves and warmer wears during July, but these images are sure putting a warm felling in my heart.

Pictures like these always take me away, dreaming of similar moments. A walk in the midst of the fall season, perhaps through the woods just might recreate the feeling. As for the clothes, I think I'll take two of each - you know, sort of a back up in case I get a spot on my dress.

Drum Circle

Every Sunday at Malcolm X Park a rhythm of pounding drums pours over the falls that lie behind the large park. It tickles me with excitement as I make my way to the grassy picnic area, blanket in hand. In a couple of weeks my friends and I will be holding a potluck at Drum Circle.

Unfortunately this serene event is being hassled by local neighbors - complaining of the noise the tapping of drums makes. I would hate to find one day that the event was canceled. I enjoy being immersed in dancing, hula hooping, yoga and of course drumming.

I actaully posted about this event long ago when I first started my blog. I took various pictures of stylish ones enjoying the fun. This time I figured I should use the entire landscape to my advantage. You wouldn't believe how epic this park feels. Towering brick walls encassing the entire 12 acre enchanted land. A thirteen-basin cascade fountain creates a wavy trail leading to the end of the park.

I still haven't explored it all, but like I said I will be returning. As for the outfit, I bought an amazing 60's two piece formal office dress. Here I'm wearing the bottom half, the skirt. During the next few weeks, I will be styling the blouse by itself and than for the finale - the entire dress! I think I'm more excited than you probably are and that is to be expected.

You might have heard about this already, but I figured it was worth discussing on the blog - circle contact lenses. What are circle lenses? This new popular trend is similar to normal contacts - in fact they fit right over your eye just like prescription contacts - except the results are much dramatic - and you guessed it, they are not prescribed by doctors in the U.S. Circle contacts are designed to widen the iris giving you a more innocent, animated look.

Many people in the U.S. are purchasing them online from international websites with or without a prescription. This doe-eyed look reminds me of Wes Borland. Many people argue that these contacts are dangerous - limiting the oxygen that gets to your eyes and possibly causing blindness. They are not approved by the FDA. The video below is pretty popular at the moment. It will give you a better idea of the trend I'm describing and how to acquire it.

I found an interesting review on circle contacts. Beauty Blogger explains her reaction to the contacts and her tips for purchasing and wearing circle contacts safely. I'm not sure how I feel about them, so that's where you come in...

Crazy About Mad Men!

With Season 4 just around the corner - well hopefully, considering that there are talks that At&t is acting selfishly and might keep the show from airing - I wanted to post a few promo pictures along with the cool video below.

I can't get over Peggy's new hairstyle, soooooo 60's! I'm dreaming of a similar hairdo of my own. And of course the clothes are making me feel all dreamy. This show is so incredible and I'm just counting down the days. Oh, please let it air! At the moment Mad Men is expected to return on July 25th at 10 p.m.

I just happened to have wandered past my favorite record store while sporting the most perfect of outfits that a Bug owns. Ok, so I kid about the last part - I own several. This is my daddy's favorite place to visit when he comes to see his daughter (that's me!). I'm a big fan as well, always a great selection of vinyl to thumb through.

I figure an explanation is due for my recent bloggy absence, or maybe I'm taking myself and this blog a little too seriously - I plead the latter. So hey, maybe I've been having some computer problems and maybe I've been also enjoying some time in the sunny sun sun. Again, the sunny part is more to blame. Can you argue that?

I'm a big tease when it comes to my music selection, sometimes finding it hard not to bounce from one genre to the next. There are those days when I can't help but grab onto the edges of a record that was fed to the youngsters of the 1960's, but than again that XTC album is looking awfully lonesome.

PACT is an organic cotton underwear line for girls and guys. Designed by Yves Behar, each pair of underwear sold goes to a cause - Green Belt Movement, ForestEthics, 826 National, Oceana, and Global Green USA.

Each order they deliver is in a compostable envelope - how neat is that! When you purchase PACT underwear you are supporting organic cotton farmers. Their drawers are made of 95% cotton and 5% elastane. The reason behind their decision not to go 100% - undies made of only cotton end up wearing out faster resulting in larger landfill waist.

I'm in need of a few new pairs of drawers. I think this store along with several others are great options when making my purchase. I've never bought green undies, so I'm not sure what to expect. Have you?

No, not the band, although they are rather awesome too, but instead these lovely earrings from Ruche. I love how they photograph their jewelry. Their pretty displays make them so appealing.

Fulani Tribal Design Earrings: Simple, yet intricate. I love me a pair of large circle earrings.

Peach Rose and Pearls Earrings: Delicate little flowers always look darling with a vintage inspired outfit. These ones are too perfect.

Spring Patina and Cherry Blossom Earrings: Cute, cute, cute! It may not be Spring anymore, but they still will look perfectly cute with a summer skirt.

Music Note Song Bird Earrings: My favorite earrings by far. I hope to grab a pair soon before the sell out. And at $8.99 a pop, how could you not pick up a pair?

Skies of Blue Earrings: These may be sold out at the moment, but Ruche tends to get items back in stock. I love the ocean blue hue so I had to include them.

Chaos Illuminated Lightening Earrings: I think a real lightning storm would be really jealous if they saw these earrings dangling from our ears.

Under The Sea Seahorse Earrings: Perfect for the summer. I could see myself pairing these lovelies with so many different nautical themed outfits.

Otto Red Matrix Earrings: Sort of reminds me of ladybugs, so yeah these are cute!
